My guess is that the previous owner of the house is not having a plan to increase his/her space anymore. So i'm stuck with this arrangement. But then, after surfing on the internet and found an article about design Couchtisch , i found that i could help to improve the space by re-arranging the kitchen equipments such as sink etc. Hopefully it could get better than current space.

hey! the pic on your post looks exactly like kitchen of a friend of mine. are you a friend of bram? if not, then my mistake. by the way, my grandma's kitchen is also cramped. so i need to increase it furthermore. different from your kitchen, my grandmas house has a spare of space on the backyard, so for me it is easier to increase the kicthen. good luck on re-arrangin your kitchen.
